Our Services
A place where kids can just be kids.
Through collaboration and compassion, BeHive builds a playground of empowerment that meets each child right where they are to help them learn the skills that they need to succeed.
From traditional play therapy to facilitated group playdates and 1:1 skill-building sessions, BeHive offers countless opportunities for children to learn and grow in a safe, structured environment. Each session is uniquely tailored to the age, interests, and goals that each child is working towards.
Individual Therapy
-
A highly effective therapy technique that helps children gain insight into their feelings, address problems, and develop healthy coping strategies.
How it works:
By providing a neutral and non-judgmental space, a child can feel free to explore challenges and emotions in a way which is most comfortable to them; having fun! Children will develop tools to build awareness of emotions, identify patterns, and self-regulate with these newly learned strategies. -
An individual session focused on a variety of social and personal skills, including: initiating and maintaining friendships, understanding and expressing feelings and empathy, problem solving, emotion management, relationship skills, perspective-taking, social awareness, and improving self-confidence.
Who it’s for:
Children aged 2-12, who could benefit from the comfortable atmosphere of play therapy, while also getting 1:1 social and emotional support.
How it works:
Our sessions incorporate games, crafts, videos, and various hands-on activities to promote the development of the targeted skills. -
A structured playdate with two or more children that involves guided play designed to address specific therapeutic goals. These facilitated sessions are geared towards helping children navigate play and socialize in a natural setting.
Who it’s for:
Children aged 2-12 who could benefit from a more structured and social play therapy experience
How it works:
Similar to individual play therapy, these sessions involve guided play designed to help your child with self-expression, exploration of emotions, and problem-solving in a safe and supportive environment. Sessions can take place in your home or the home of your child’s friend. -
A school-based therapeutic program that helps children build resilience, cope with stress, and develop necessary skills to navigate both academic and social challenges.
Who it’s for:
Children aged 2-12 who are struggling with academic achievement, peer relationships, or classroom culture
How it works:
Through classroom observations, collaboration with parents, teachers, and support staff, and push-in sessions with the student, we provide comprehensive plans with concrete and evidence-based tools to help students to reach their potential in the school environment.
Groups
-
For our littlest bees who need some help getting off the ground, Play Groups provide a supportive and structured environment for young children and toddlers to develop and enhance their play and social skills.
The benefit:
These engaging sessions allow members to practice their gross and fine motor skills, social skills, cognitive skills, and emotion regulation. Together, our littlest bees can have fun and learn new skills to prepare for entry into the classroom while fostering growth and making new friends!
The process:
These groups provide a holistic approach to toddler development through age-appropriate activities and games. -
For our slightly older hive members who could use some more social skills practice, Social Groups are a great place for children to enhance their teamwork skills and foster improved relationships and communication.
The benefit:
Social Groups aim to explicitly teach social skills and improve overall group functioning across all settings. Topics may include but are not limited to: making and maintaining friends, reading social cues, play skills (ex: turn taking, sharing), conflict resolution, problem solving, perspective taking, and empathy.
The process:
During group, children engage in various hands-on, collaborative activities including role-play, art projects, and game play to practice social skills in a controlled setting and receive constructive feedback and guidance from both myself and from their peers.
School Partnerships
-
For schools seeking outside consultation, we conduct comprehensive observations within classroom settings. During these observations, we focus on gaining insight into various aspects of the classroom environment, including student behavior patterns, group dynamics, and teacher interventions. We also provide ongoing consultation to support the school in implementing and evaluating the recommended strategies.
-
By offering targeted dyads and groups within the school setting, we aim to provide support that is both effective and accessible, helping children develop the social skills and confidence needed to thrive in academic and social environments.
We specialize in providing on-site support to schools by "pushing in" and offering targeted intervention sessions directly within the school setting. The groups we facilitate within schools encompass a wide range of focuses, from play groups to social skills groups, all aimed at helping children develop essential social skills and improve their peer interactions.
-
As a part of working with schools, we collaborate closely with educators and school administration to identify topics of interest and importance for parents and staff. This process ensures that the support and information provided aligns with the specific needs and priorities of each community.
Our sessions are designed to provide parents and caregivers with the necessary information and skills to support their child's social-emotional development. These sessions are structured to be informative, engaging, and interactive, allowing participants to learn and apply concrete tools to interact with children in a positive and productive way.
